Mission Moments - Snapshots from the Soul
Every person who passes through the doors of City Union Mission has a unique story to tell - every man, every woman, and every child. Some stories are gripping, some are interesting, and some are heartwarming, while others are heartbreaking.
We have captured several stories that may change the way you view homelessness forever. Here is your chance to take a glimpse into the lives of a few of our precious clients, volunteers, and donors. We hope you will take a minute to engross yourself in these powerful testimonies. Please place yourself in their shoes, and join them in their past sorrows as well as their newfound joy.
Michael

Most of my life, I felt like no one cared about me. From my mom, who was only twelve when she had me, to my grandparents who abused me. I had plenty of money and desire for anything that fed the flesh. Basically, I was a crack addict living in a high-class neighborhood.
When my brother died from an overdose, I moved in with my mom, hoping to get to know her. But after I pawned my brother’s truck for dope, she kicked me out. For weeks, I roamed Kansas City’s streets homeless.
One afternoon, two strangers stopped, rolled down their window, and told me God loved me. A few minutes later, they returned with a coat and fried chicken, and pointed the way to City Union Mission. At the Mission I talked to Mike, a counselor. He gave me my first Bible. Within months, I fell in love with the Heavenly Father I never knew. God removed my sinful desires and filled me with His love.
