The University Academy is a charter school in Kansas City, Missouri. When one of their students was given an English class assignment to do something to educate or improve the world he didn’t have far to look. Patrick Corley, a Senior at the school, decided to do something about homelessness. His mom said, “He called his project "Under Wraps" for a dual reason: Homelessness is a hidden problem in our society -- that is, under wraps -- and, coats and blankets provide warmth by wrapping the person. He distributed fliers at school and in our neighborhood, as a result he collected twelve bags full of coats. Patrick and a family friend, Katrina Taggart, then delivered the coats to City Union Mission’s Men’s Emergency Center. I am very proud of him and so glad that City Union Mission does so much for so many, and that Patrick was able to do his part.”
